The Aragon and Catalonia Canal is a water supply system for irrigators, towns and industries with 300 km length. Due to its length is the second irrigation area of the Ebro River Basin and, therefore, one of the largest in Spain.

The main goals of the automation and motoring of 2000 irrigation intakes gates associated with Aragon and Catalonia Canal were:
· Optimise water and energy consumption.
· Provide real time information of water distribution.
· Develop advanced information systems for assisting operation tasks.
· Ensure automatic and remote control of gates.

Description and scope:
· Development of a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system.
· Installation of control panels and actuators for floodgates monitoring.
· Regulation and control of flow and levels.
· Integration of communications solutions.
· Development and operation of the supervision & centralised control centre.
