Modernisation of the Trangie Nevertire Irrigation Scheme (Australia)

Trangie-Nevertire Co-operative Limited

Areas of Activity: Automation and Control Systems

Sectors of Operation: Water Supply, Irrigation Modernisation

Trangie-Nevertire Co-operative Limited (TNCL) is located in the Lower Macquarie Valley, NSW, and the scheme services an area of 125,000ha over 90 properties having a water entitlement of 63,408ML per year.

The Commonwealth funding is part of the Private Irrigation Infrastructure Operators Program in New South Wales and is to be used for the construction of a stock and domestic pipeline system, the modernisation of scheme channels (including channel lining, structure upgrade, gating, metering and telemetry) and the upgrading on-farm infrastructure.

This project involved the design and construction of the new irrigation channel and a water stock and domestic pipeline system for Trangie-Nevertire Co-operative Limited. The scope included the channel lining, structure upgrade, gating, metering, automation, telemetry, control center and the implementation of an innovative mathematical model for the channel management.

By advanced technology in gates, telemetry and software Adasa provided a system automatically schedule based on demand and the customer irrigation strategy that automatically routes flows through the channel, optimising the operation and enabling a rapid control response, resulting in water savings and greatly improved customer service.
