Sewage pumping

Canal de Isabel II - Ministerio de Medio Ambiente, Medio Rural y Marino

Areas of Activity: Automation and Control Systems, Information Systems

Sectors of Operation: Drainage Networks, WWTP

Two highly representative works with similar characteristics can be highlighted among our sewage pumping activities: the electrical installation and telemonitoring of the sewage plan for Torrelodones-Galapagar (Canal de Isabel II) and the installation of ten pumping systems in the new Benidorm-Villajoyosa collector (Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs).

The scope of these projects encompassed electrical installation and telemonitoring. In addition, instrumentation was installed to monitor flow and pressure in the collectors, allowing optimization of the network and the exact flow to be supplied to each treatment plant at all times.

In the case of the pumping stations at Benidorm-Villajoyosa, a communications network was also introduced for transmission of all the data about pumping to the two sewage treatment plants. This being critical communication – failure would cause sewage spillage in residential zones – this communications network has triple redundancy. The main communications are carried out by optical fibre, the secondary system is by radio and the third system is a GPRS network.
