Adasa at the 15th Iberian Limnology Association Conference

July 2010

Adasa's participation in the 15th edition of the Iberian Association of Limnology, held in Ponta Delgada, Azores, from July 5th to 9th was remarkable.

The conference is an important meeting place for the exchange of experiences, knowledge and innovation among researchers, technicians and collaborating administrations.

Under the heading “New Methodologies and Techniques in Limnology,” Adasa took advantage of this circumstance to explain the work it has been doing in the Júcar River Basin District, related with new, emerging technologies for the automatic control of the water quality and trophic level of reservoirs.

At the talk, the latest generation of sensors, which allow investigation and identification of causes and the scale of impact of pollution incidents in different bodies of water (rivers, lakes and reservoirs), were presented. In addition, the automatic mobile stations which analyse essential parameters, such as physical and chemical parameters, nutrients, organic mater, etc., the main advantage of which is the mobility and autonomy to carry out quality supervision in protected areas and the study of the impact of spills, were described. The results from the new technologies introduced in the basin for monitoring and control of bodies of water in support of the quality control network were also presented.
