The UTE of Adasa and FCC is awarded the tender for the Tajo-Segura inter-basin water transfer system

January 2009

The Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs (MARM) has awarded the tender for work on the project to enlarge the Automatic Hydrological Information System (SAIH) in the Segura basin (Tajo-Segura inter-basin water transfer system), which comes to 9.9 million euros, to the temporary consortium (UTE) formed by Adasa Sistemas S.A.U. and FCC Construcción S.A.

The project includes the infrastructures, equipping the electromechanical elements and computer systems and communications necessary to achieve telemetering of the floodgates of the inter-basin water transfer system, remote controls for the main sluices, and control of the hydraulic balance of the reservoirs and lakes directly involved in regulating the inter-basin flow, whether in normal water usage circumstances or for forecasting floods in extreme situations.

It is also planned to update the technology at the current measuring points of the SAIH and integrate the remote controls already in operation. The planned work also includes the construction of a new hydrometric station on the Crevillente Canal and two prefabricated buildings for local control centres.
