The First AQUAdemia Student Started his Internship at Adasa

September 2015

The European AQUAdemia project connects industries and the higher education institutions in water sector of Austria, Belgium, Germany, Spain and Nederlands to join forces and design innovative solutions. Adasa is one of the members of this initiative, as engineering company that provides technological solutions for the management of the integral water cycle.

“Adasa aims to foster scientific culture and spread technological knowledge thanks to the cooperation with universities, and promotes the balance of scientific know-how and the business market”, said Montserrat Batlle the Analytical Unit Manager of the R&D and innovation Area from Adasa.

The student Jonas De Kesel from the Ghent University of Belgium was the first student of the project and started his internship at Adasa. His support helped to improve the investigation of two on line water monitoring systems which analysis the microbial load and ammonia concentration.

“Working abroad in a ‘real-life’ company has been great”, states Jonas De Kesel. “Designing, preparing, evaluating and improving experiments during a longer period of time, were things that I’d never done before. Add the incredible atmosphere of Barcelona and mentality to that and you understand directly why this was a once upon a lifetime experience for me.”
