About 300 attendees joined WEAM4i Meeting

On September 20th – 23rd 2016, the consortium of WEAM4i project held their 5th general meeting followed by a public conference in the presence of Spanish local and national authorities in Ejea de los Caballeros, Spain.


The achievements and progress of the project were shown, as well the current status of the 3 pilot cases in the following demosites: Aragon (Spain), Lower Saxony (Germany) and Alentejo (Portugal).

WEAM4i project aims to improve the efficiency of water use and reduce the costs of power irrigation systems. A smart irrigation management platform will be developed for the water demand side management according to available energy offer.

The meeting was joined by members from the Water Policies Advisory Board (WPAB), and distinguished Spanish guests from local and national authorities, including:

· Javier Lambán Montañés, Aragón President.
· Teresa Ladrero, Ejea de los Caballeros City Major.
· Raimundo Lafuente, President of Ebro River Basin Authority.
· Fernando Esteban García, Manager of Yesa Reservoir Project Works.
· José Ignacio Gil, General Director of Agriculture and Livestock and Rural Development of Navarra Government.
· Jesús Nogues, General Director of Development of Aragón Government.
· José María Vinué, President of Bardenas Irrigation General Community.
· Isabel Elizáldez, Counselor of Rural, Environment and Local Administration of Navarra Government.
· Joaquín Olona, Counselor of Rural Development and Sustainability of Aragón Government.
